Ricardo Giraldo - ric@mezcalito.org
program notes
For tabla and live computer processing.
De go is a free analogy between the Tabla (hindu percussion) and heart beat rhythms taken from the electrocardiograms of patients with severe heart irregularities creating a rhythmic impulse between the tabla and its live electronic counterpart.
This piece was created during workshops conducted by The Electronic Hammer percussion and computer music trio and is the second part of EKG (2002), a piece which is again based on electrocardiograms. The later was composed for the Slagwerkgroep Den Haag with funding from the Amsterdamse Fonds voor de Kunst for six percussionists a tape for the occasion of the ZUID-AMERIKA: HOMAGES (2002) concert series. EKG was rewriten for four percussionists, tape and video in 2004 for the "10 years of Tambuco" concert series in combination with the Centro Nacional de las Artes and Muziekgroep Nederland.
